In a small study done at the Exertion Games Lab at RMIT University in Australia, Florian Mueller is testing quacopters as fitness companions. Their thinking is that personal aerial drones may just be the key to achieving workout success for those who struggle with tying up their laces and getting serious about exercise. Their design involves drones that are autonomously controlled and programmed to go from one waypoint to another, leading casual joggers alone a safe path. The 13 participants were encouraged to go on the 25-minute predefined courses with their drones. Overall, they liked the experience, saying they felt more motivated. This is a great example of how companion UAVs may transform our lives in the future.
